The grant comes via the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential in order to expand college education access to adult learners and to improve regional economic growth.

The university received a Quick Start grant from the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential that it will use to help students experiencing food insecurity access fresh foods.

Benjamin “Ben” Mathias Determan was an involved community member who was known to often use the phrase “Why wouldn’t I?” as he embarked on new journeys and pursued new experiences.

The anonymous gift is the largest single gift ever received by the Department of Music. The funding will support equipment acquisition and will establish two new endowed funds.

A total of $1,000 worth of books were collected and donated to students within Pikeville Independent and Pike County schools who were affected by major flooding in February 2025.

The $300,000 grant will support the program called “Capacity and Community for Research-Emerging Institutions with Large Computing Programs,” which is a multi-institution initiative led by Northern Kentucky University.

The Model Laboratory Schools is a public teaching lab that gives undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to work with kids in preschool through 12th grade to help them prepare to become educators.

The $20,000 gift will support a student scholarship and assist with the college’s operations expenses.

The grant comes from The Bill Gatton Foundation and will benefit students within the The Carol M. Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science as well as the Bridge to Independence Scholarship Fund for students in the LifeWorks program.

The university’s Utilities and Energy Management team in Facilities Management received the award for its work on the Central Utility Plant (CUP) Stormwater Harvesting System project.
