Established in 1974, Pierpont Community and Technical College shares a campus with Fairmont State University in Fairmont, West Virginia. The school offers more than 40 programs, including ones that award certificates or degrees.

Pierpont Community and Technical College offers the following healthcare-related courses:

Practical Nursing - Certificate

The Practical Nursing certificate program at Pierpont Community and Technical College aims to prepare students to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses. The program is part-time and will take five semesters to complete. Among the classes included in the program are nutrition, pharmacology, mental health nursing, and pediatric nursing.

Veterinary Assistant - Certificate

This program prepares students to work in entry-level positions under veterinarians in an animal hospital or clinic to provide routine care and administrative work. Students will study topics such as medical terminology, veterinary technology, and animal care.

Veterinary Technology - Degree

The Veterinary Technology degree program at Pierpont is intended to prepare students to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam. Throughout the program courses, students will learn clinical and laboratory techniques, microbiology, and animal pharmacology. After successfully completing the course, students should feel prepared to work in entry-level veterinary technician positions.

Pierpont currently offers a two-year Associate of Applied Science Physical Therapist Assistant program. The articulation agreement that was recently put into place with Harrisburg University gives students a pathway toward the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science program.
