Health Information Technology
Get on track to earn the health information technologist's salary you deserve through HIT program courses, such as medical terminology, advanced procedural coding, health care ethics and presentation techniques. Complete Davenport's associates degree in information technology and continue on to our bachelor's in health information management (HIM degree). All classes are aligned with Quality Matters (QM) and are evaluated through Instructional Design to ensure the quality of instruction.
Medical Assisting
The program is designed to prepare competent entry-level medical assistants in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. Students are prepared in the basics of patient care, basic laboratory practices, and medical office procedures. In addition, students will have developed their interpersonal communication skills and acquired a foundation in both psychology and cultural diversity. Upon completion of course work and the practicum, students are eligible to take the certification exam of the American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) and/or the American Medical Technologist Exam (RMA). Medical Assisting is a laddered program allowing students to complete the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Assisting, and eventually complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services Administration or Medical Case Management.
Practical Nursing
Davenport's classes for LPN include topics like anatomy and physiology with human disease, foundations of nursing and critical thinking and pharmacology. The classes for LPN will prepare you to take the NCLEX-PN exam and put you on a path to become a licensed practical nurse. All courses are taught by Davenport professors who are RNs and hold advanced degrees, including master's degrees in nursing and PhDs.
