University of Evansville has been awarded a spot on the Military Times' "Best for Vets: Colleges" 2023 list thanks to its commitment to providing ample resources and opportunities for its veteran and military-affiliated students.

Best for Vets is an annual list that ranks the most veteran-friendly schools around the country based on its metrics, including a survey and scoring rubric. The areas of focus in the rankings this year included GPA, retention and graduation rates, and other student success markers. University of Evansville was the highest-ranked school in Indiana on the list.

According to an article on University of Evansville's website, Cherie Leonhardt, who is the Manager of Transfer Admission at UE, discussed how UE’s commitment to veterans secured the school its spot on the list, saying, "UE's commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for military-affiliated students across all these aspects played a pivotal role in securing our position on the list. We are honored to work with ROTC cadets, current service members, veterans and their families to further support them and ensure they have the tools and resources needed to be successful in their academic journey."

In addition to the resources University of Evansville provides to its veteran students, it also participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program. The program provides free tuition to military students who have completed three years of active duty service since September 11, 2001.
