The new Presidential Scholarship will launch with the 2026-2027 school year and will be awarded to eligible incoming students for their first two semesters.
Owens Community College is launching a new scholarship for the 2026-2027 school year. The college’s Presidential Scholarship will provide eligible students with a $1,000 per semester award for their first two semesters at Owens Community College, providing them with financial assistance to get their college journey off to a positive start.
According to an article on Owens Community College’s website, Erin Kramer, the Director of Admissions at Owens Community College, was quoted as saying of the new scholarship, “Recognizing and supporting our most academically talented incoming students allows Owens to expand its recruitment reach in meaningful ways. A scholarship like this signals to high-achieving students that Owens is a serious choice and that we’re committed to helping them succeed from day one. We already offer one of the most affordable pathways to a college degree, and the Presidential Scholarship builds on that. For students who have worked hard to excel academically, this award can make a real difference, reducing out-of-pocket costs and allowing them to focus on what matters most: their education.”
In order to be eligible for the new Presidential Scholarship, students must enroll at Owens Community College directly after graduating from high school. They must also have a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average, and have graduated in the top 10 of their high school class. Students must also complete a FAFSA.
Students who are awarded the Presidential Scholarship will receive $1,000 per semester for their first two semesters at Owens Community College, and the money must be used on tuition, fees, or other approved educational costs at the college.
The new scholarship is another option for merit-based financial assistance that goes beyond what else the college offers. The Presidential Scholarship features no residency requirements, unlike the Board of Trustees Scholarship, which limits its awards to students who reside within the legal service district of Owens Community College. A similar scholarship the college offers is the Start Here Scholarship, which, unlike the new Presidential Scholarship, requires students to have completed at least College Credit Plus credits at Owens Community College.
