Sinclair Community College to launch Integrated Technology Education Center

The $30 million initiative will enable Sinclair Community College to become the country’s community college leader in technology and innovation.

Sinclair Community College has announced its intention to launch the Integrated Technology Education Center at its Dayton, Ohio campus’ Building 8. The establishment of the Integrated Technology Education Center is part of a larger initiative the college is spearheading to create a hub for the convergence of AI, cybersecurity, and information technology.

According to an article on Sinclair Community College’s website, Dr. Steve Johnson, who serves as the President and CEO of the college, was quoted as saying of the launch of the new initiative, "The launch of the $30 million Integrated Technology Education Center is a declaration of Sinclair’s unwavering commitment to the future of our students and our region. ITEC will serve as a dynamic, flexible hub, firmly establishing Sinclair as a national leader in technology innovation - a place where students will gain the cutting-edge skills necessary to drive economic growth and secure our digital future."

The Integrated Technology Education Center will be housed within Building 8, which will undergo a modernization and renovation, and is expected to open in the Spring of 2027. The Center will serve as a regional hub to serve students and employers in the community, to prepare students for in-demand careers and to help employers fill their employment needs with well-qualified and skilled employees. It is expected that up to 7,500 students per year will utilize the Integrated Technology Education Center.

The current programs offered by Sinclair Community College that will benefit from the Integrated Technology Center are Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Science, and with the initiative in place to foster the convergence of AI, cybersecurity, and information technology, the college will also enhance the integration of these technologies across all academic departments.

Joe Sciabica, who serves as the Executive Director of the Employers' Workforce Coalition and of the Sinclair Board of Trustees, said, “At the heart of Sinclair’s ITEC initiative is a clear recognition that tomorrow’s students, and tomorrow’s workforce, must be prepared for a world where IT, cybersecurity, and AI are not optional skills, but fundamental tools in the toolbox for nearly every career. Whether you're pursuing a future in healthcare, HVAC, welding, or advanced manufacturing… our goal is to ensure that every Sinclair student, no matter their chosen field, graduates not only with deep roots in their trade or profession, but also with the ability to navigate and contribute to the interconnected digital systems that define the modern workplace.”
