Bailey College of Engineering and Technology at Indiana State University to undergo $66 million renovation
The project, which will add more classroom space, modernize existing spaces, and improve sustainability efforts, is expected to be largely completed by January of 2027.
Indiana State University’s Bailey College of Engineering and Technology has begun work on its $66 million renovation, which is being carried out by Garmong Construction of Terre Haute, Indiana. This renovation is the university’s largest capital improvement project to date, and involves modernizing the building, increasing classroom space, upgrading technology, and installing new fire sprinkler systems.
According to an article on Indiana State University’s website, Mike Godard, who serves as the university’s president, shared his thoughts about the renovation project and what he sees to be the lasting benefits of it. He is quoted as saying, "This is a historic moment for Indiana State University and our community. The Bailey College of Engineering and Technology renovations demonstrate our commitment to supporting Indiana’s workforce needs by providing students with the advanced skills and education necessary to fill high-demand jobs. This $66 million investment is not just about upgrading a building—it's about investing in the future of Indiana’s economy. We are grateful for the continued support from the State of Indiana as we work to ensure our students are prepared to lead in an evolving workforce."
Among the renovations and other improvements included in the project are the installation of solar panels to improve sustainability efforts, the installation of a new fire sprinkler system, new lobbies and entryways, new laboratories with current and modern technologies, and new classroom spaces. The programs housed within the Bailey College of Engineering and Technology, such as Computer Science, Construction Management, and Engineering, will likely see the most enhancements, which will poise them to produce students who will effectively move into the state’s workforce.
Bob Casey, who serves as the Chair of Indiana State University's Board of Trustees, shared his thoughts about the project, saying, “This groundbreaking is not just the start of a building but a symbol of Indiana State's commitment to innovation. We are creating a space where future engineers, technologists, aviation professionals, and leaders in applied sciences will collaborate, problem-solve, and innovate.
