Edison State Community College forms partnership with Indiana University East

The partnership will create a seamless transfer pathway experience for students who earn an associate degree at Edison State to continue their education at Indiana University East to earn a bachelor degree.

Edison State Community College and Indiana University East have formed a partnership that will create a seamless transfer pathway for students who wish to continue their education beyond earning an associate degree. The new pathway will help students earn a bachelor degree from Indiana University East without losing any earned credits and will help them save money on a bachelor degree.

According to an article on Edison State Community College’s website, Edison State President Dr. Chris Spradlin was quoted as saying of the partnership, “Edison State is committed to creating clear, affordable pathways that help our students continue their education without losing the progress they have already made. This agreement allows our associate degree graduates to move forward with confidence toward completing a high-quality bachelor’s degree at IU East. We value our partnership with IU East and the expanded opportunities it creates for students throughout our region to continue their education and achieve their goals.”

The partnership agreement states that students who complete an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree at Edison State Community College will be able to transfer at least 60 credit hours into an arts and sciences or a general studies bachelor’s program at IU East. Those 60 credits will help students satisfy the general education requirements of IU East’s bachelor degree programs, leading to students saving time and money in pursuit of a bachelor degree.

IU East Chancellor Dennis Rome said, “Our seamless admittance partnership with Edison State creates a clear, affordable, and reliable pathway for Edison State students to become IU East graduates. It reduces credit loss, simplifies admissions, strengthens advising, lowers costs, and builds a shared student-support ecosystem—all while reinforcing IU East’s role as the region’s most accessible and supportive four-year institution.”
