The Dual Advantage program will provide undergraduate students with various pathways that will help them earn both a bachelor degree and a master’s degree at the same time.
Trine University has launched its new Dual Advantage program, an initiative that provides undergraduate students with various pathways that will help them earn both a bachelor degree and a master’s degree at the same time, or through an accelerated direct-entry option that will reduce the time it takes to earn their degrees.
According to an article on Trine University’s website, Kim Bennett, who serves as the university’s vice president for enrollment management, was quoted as saying of the Dual Advantage program, “We’ve offered several of these opportunities for years, but Dual Advantage brings them together under one program so students and families can more easily understand and explore the options available. Dual Advantage is another way Trine University is creating value for students and families. By reducing the time it takes to complete multiple degrees, students can lower their overall educational costs and enter or advance in their careers sooner.”
There are three pathway types within the Dual Advantage program, and each pathway type has a number of pathways within them. The three types are Bachelor’s + Master’s, Health Professions Direct Entry, and Law Pathway.
The Bachelor’s + Master’s pathway type allows students to begin working on their graduate degree work in their junior year of their undergraduate degree program. This will allow students to take their graduate coursework at the lower undergraduate tuition rate, and some students may be able to earn both degrees within four years. The Business pathway will allow students to take any specific bachelor degree program and a Master of Business Administration degree. The Engineering and Computing pathway allows students to take Computer and Information Technology or Cybersecurity + Master of Science in Information Systems; or Computer Engineering + Master of Business Administration.
The Health Professions Direct Entry pathway type helps students earn both a bachelor's and doctoral degrees in as little as six years, or a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in as little as five years. Students can take Exercise Science + Doctor of Physical Therapy; Biology + Master of Physician Assistant Studies; or Exercise Science or Psychology + Doctor of Occupational Therapy.
The Law pathway type works in partnership with select law schools and allows students to complete both bachelor's and Juris Doctor (J.D.) degrees in as little as six years instead of the traditional seven. The accelerated pathway will see students complete three years of undergraduate work at Trine University, and then their first year of law school will also satisfy their final year of undergraduate work requirements for their bachelor degree.
If students are looking for an option that is not listed in the Dual Advantage program, they can reach out to their advisor to see what other possibilities exist.
