The partnership will give Sinclair Community College students in 10 associate degree programs the opportunity to transfer seamlessly into Wright State University’s Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology degree program.
Sinclair Community College and Wright State University have partnered to provide students with a simple pathway into the university’s Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology program. This agreement joins the existing Wright Path pathways between the community college’s associate degree programs and approximately 70 bachelor degree programs at Wright State University.
According to an article on Sinclair Community College’s website, Darryl Ahner, Ph.D., who serves as the Dean of Wright State’s College of Engineering and Computer Science, was quoted as saying of the new pathway, “This partnership ensures a seamless public-school pathway to a high-demand, well-paying career in engineering technology. Students are seeing the value in a Wright State education. This new pathway with Sinclair is another example of how we deliver high-quality, affordable options that prepare graduates for real careers in our region and beyond.”
The associate degree programs included in the pathway from Sinclair Community College are Electronics Engineering Technology, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering Tech, Quality Engineering Technology, and Biomedical Engineering Technology, among others. These programs, under the Wright Path agreement, lead into Wright State University’s Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology program, which includes several concentrations and tracks, in order to accommodate students’ technical backgrounds.
The purpose of the pathway programs is to provide students with a more affordable way to earn a bachelor degree by completing the first two years of study at Sinclair Community College. The Wright Path makes use of the 2+2 program format and provides students with all of the resources of both institutions throughout their educational journey.
Karl Hess, who is the Dean of Sinclair’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Division, said, “Technicians with associate’s degrees in fields like mechanical, electrical or quality engineering technology are in high demand by both new and established manufacturers across Ohio. Many students come to Sinclair aiming to prepare for a high-demand career that makes them job-ready as quickly as possible, with no initial plans to pursue anything beyond an associate’s degree. However, after experiencing success in our programs, their confidence grows—and so do their aspirations. At Sinclair, our motto is ‘Find the need, and endeavor to meet it,’ and we take great pride in partnering with institutions like Wright State, who share our commitment to supporting student success.”
