The endowed scholarship has been made possible through a gift from alumna and employee Jennifer Mullen, and will benefit business students who have limited financial means.
Indiana State University recently received a $30,000 gift from alumna Jennifer Mullen to create the Jennifer A. Mullen Endowed Scholarship for the Scott College of Business. The scholarship is intended to help students who have limited financial means or support to pursue their degree.
According to an article on Indiana State University’s website, Mullen explained her desire to create the endowed fund. She is quoted as saying, “When I look back on my time as a student in the Scott College of Business, I see how they were building a foundation that prepared me for success and opened so many doors for opportunity. I want to leave a legacy of kindness and giving back that will make a difference for future generations.”
Mullen attended Indiana State University twice, earning a bachelor degree in management information systems in 2001 and a master’s degree in communication in 2011. Throughout her career, she has worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, as Director of Frontline Operations at IUPUI, and in various positions at Indiana State University, including her current position as Senior Instructor in the Scott College of Business and Director of the Networks Program.
Andrea Angel, who is the CEO of the Indiana State University Foundation and the Vice President of the Division of University Advancement, said, “Jennifer’s investment in student success reflects her belief in our mission and our students and exemplifies how alumni and faculty can shape the future of Indiana State through generosity and vision. We are deeply grateful for her meaningful contribution and inspiring dedication to our Sycamore community.”
The scholarship will be available to business students in need of financial assistance who have not earned any other substantial university-supported scholarships. The goal is to help students pursue their careers while feeling supported.
Dean Terry Daugherty said, “Jennifer is an incredible mentor to so many within the Scott College of Business. She cares deeply about student success and has an infectious energy that inspires. This scholarship is a meaningful reflection of her dedication for helping our students overcome barriers and develop as future business leaders.”
