Northeast State Community College and Tennessee College of Applied Technology Morristown have formed an articulation agreement for welding students. The agreement guarantees admissions to Northeast State’s Associate of Applied Science in Welding/Metal Fabrication program for students coming from TCAT Morristown who have a Welding Diploma. This is the third such articulation agreement between the institutions, joining ones for Aviation Maintenance Technology and Computer-Aided Design.
According to an article on Northeast State Community College’s website, TCAT Morristown President Susanne Cox said of the agreement, “This agreement benefits students by saving time and provides a clear path forward to advancing educational goals. Additionally, it demonstrates our shared commitment to student success. This is a great opportunity, and we are looking forward to the positive impact this agreement will have on the lives of our students.”
The specifics of the agreement state that TCAT Morristown students may transfer up to 27 credits into the Associate of Applied Science in Welding/Metal Fabrication program, which requires 63 credits for completion. Northeast State will award credits based on student transcripts, and the transferred credits may cover Northeast State requirements for College and Lifelong Learning, General Welding, Applied Welding, Industrial Safety, Welding Blueprints, Industrial Concepts, Inert Gas Arc Welding, and Pipe Welding courses.
Northeast State President Jeff McCord said, “We’re happy to partner with TCAT Morristown to offer great pathways for their students, and for people in our region. It makes good sense, and it’s the right thing to do to provide opportunity across the entire region.”
