Five online programs at Baker College earned the school recognition from Forbes

Forbes has recognized Baker with spots on its lists for Best Online Logistics Degree, Best Online Master’s in Human Resource Management, Best Online Finance Degree, Best Online Marketing Degrees of 2023, and Best Online Computer Programming Degree.

Baker College is celebrating its placement on five of Forbes’ “Best” lists for its online degree programs. The school credits its ability to make its program accessible to a wide population of students and the high caliber of its instructors among the reasons for its success.

According to an article on Baker College’s website, Dr. Ashlie Roeder, who is the Program Director of Baker’s College of Business, discussed further the program distinctives that separate them from the rest, saying, “Our Human Resource Management program stands out for its alignment with SHRM’s (Society for Human Resource Management) Curriculum Guidebook and Template. It aligns with one of the world’s largest HR professional societies guidelines– ensuring curriculum relevance, certification preparedness for certifications, and keeps us at the forefront of emerging industry trends.”

Dr. Roeder also praised Baker’s instructors for their dedication and abilities, saying, “They are currently working in the field, which brings credibility and a balanced perspective. In our marketing we provide simulations and the use of current market research tools to help students not only grasp the content but also apply what they have learned in a practical context.”

Dr. Brian Kowalczk, who is the Dean of the College of Information Technology and Engineering at Baker, pointed out the likely reason for the Computer Science program’s recognition: This accolade for the Computer Science program is evidence that our continuous improvement and student-first initiatives are working. The Computer Science advisory board continually monitors industry trends, student performance, and program performance and recommends changes to ensure that the curriculum and related processes align with industry expectations,” Kowalczk said. “Our student-first philosophy ensures students have access to holistic and proactive support in both their academic and personal lives as they pursue their educational goals. Together, these two initiatives provide a high-quality and relevant curriculum with world-class support for our students.”

In addition to the program materials and the dedicated instructors, the method of online delivery for these programs helps set them apart from other similar offerings.

“We look at our students holistically, prioritizing the valuable experiences and skills they bring to the classroom. We aim to leverage each student’s strengths to provide an exceptional academic experience and empower them to thrive personally and professionally,” Dr. Roeder explained.
