University of Evansville appoints new director of graduate enrollment

The University of Evansville appointed Dr. Charles Ziglar as the new Director of Graduate Enrollment. He will work to increase enrollment and retention of graduate students at the school.

Dr. Charles “Toby” Ziglar has been named as the new Director of Graduate Enrollment at the University of Evansville. The school conducted a nationwide search with the help of Blue Rock Search to find candidates for the Director of Graduate Enrollment position.

As the Director of Graduate Enrollment, Dr. Ziglar will be in charge of the creation of the Office of Graduate Enrollment, which will work to develop the experience of UE’s graduate students, and guide the future of the program’s footprint not only across the region but across the country.

Dr. Ziglar will be a key member of the general Enrollment team and will work together with many departments at Evansville on developing new programs, financial aid, recruiting, and marketing the program.

Evansville’s new Director of Graduate Enrollment has over two decades of experience in higher education. Dr. Ziglar is known for his skills with policy development, student services, budgetary oversight, programmatic growth, strategic planning, and administrative leadership which has helped increase student enrollment and retention throughout his career.

Before coming to Evansville, Dr. Ziglar has worked in various roles such as International Admissions, Director of Graduate, and Dean of the Graduate School such as the University of West Georgia, Vice President of Enrollment Management at Bluefield College in Virginia, and Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, among other leadership roles in academia.

The appointment of a new Director of Graduate Enrollment is part of UE’s goals to increase its number of graduate students.

The University of Evansville currently offers ten different graduate programs in athletic training, education, psychology, leadership, and the health sciences. The Master of Science in Education and the PSyD in Clinical Psychology are the two newest graduate programs at the university. The school’s graduate programs are currently seeing high demand and many cohorts are at capacity. Evansville expects to bring in 40% more graduate students by the end of this year than it had last year thanks to the continuing growth of its long standing graduate programs and the addition of new ones.

In an article posted on the University of Evansville website, Dr. Jill Griffin, who serves as the vice president for enrollment and marketing, talked about the role Dr. Ziglar will play, saying, "As the Director of Graduate Enrollment, Dr. Ziglar will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our graduate programs by leveraging untapped potential in the local community and beyond. This is a step forward to fuel additional growth in our flourishing graduate programs."

Dr. Ziglar also weighed in on his new position, saying, "Together, we will expand and enhance the graduate programs at the University of Evansville, ensuring they are responsive to the evolving needs of the global society. Success for the university lies not only in the enrollment numbers, but in the impact our graduates make on the world. I'm looking forward to empowering our students to thrive academically, professionally, and personally."

Dr. Ziglar took his new position at the end of June.
