Macomb Community College and McCarver Mechanical Heating & Cooling team up to provide HVAC apprenticeship program

A new apprenticeship program has been added to Macomb Community College’s roster of over a dozen, thanks to a partnership with McCarver Mechanical Heating & Cooling.

An HVAC apprenticeship program is being provided to students through a partnership between Macomb Community College and McCarver Mechanical Heating & Cooling. This is not MCC’s first foray into apprenticeship programs; in fact, it currently has more than a dozen already available to students.

The apprenticeship is designed to benefit the HVAC trade by expanding the services it can provide to the community, as well as expanding the talent pool.

The Macomb Daily quoted Chris McCarver, the founder of McCarver Mechanical, on the program, saying, “This program presents an excellent opportunity for people to learn a much-needed skilled trade that will be in demand for decades to come. Apprentices receive a great education and paid on-the-job training to equip them for life. Plus, we always offer in-house on-going training and education to further their skills for a changing market.”

McCarver noted that the apprenticeship program is an “excellent opportunity” as the HVAC trade provides a high paced and very rewarding job. The apprenticeship program will also aim to build lasting personal as well as technical skills by adding interactions with customers.

Part of the new apprenticeship program is McCarver Mechanical’s pledge to pay for the education of the apprentice as they take the required classroom and training education at Macomb Community College. Students will also have access to thorough on-the-job training that will equal 8,000 hours of classroom and on-the-job training over the course of the four-year program. At the end of it all the apprentice will have a certificate of completion, and all of their earned credit hours can be used toward other degrees if they wish to continue their education.

Students will also have scholarship opportunities available to them to the tune of $3,500 through Macomb Community College and other partners, including McCarver Mechanical. Interested students should apply soon as the 2023 winter semester is the next available time to be a part of the apprenticeship program at Macomb Community College.

McCarver Mechanical Heating & Cooling offers employees many different types of work in the HVAC industry, including high velocity systems, boilers and ductless mini-split systems, tankless high efficiency water heaters, HVAC installation and repair, mechanical contracting services, and more. McCarver Mechanical specializes in Combi Boilers, Condensing Boilers, Navien Tankless Water Heaters, Fujitsu Ductless Mini Splits, and SpacePak High Velocity Systems.
