Indiana State University partners with ATI Worksite Solutions and Institute for Musculoskeletal Advancement for workplace injury prevention

The partnership establishes Indiana State University as the academic partner for the Workplace Injury Prevention Certificate Program.

Indiana State University will be serving as the academic partner for the Workplace Injury Prevention Certificate Program from ATI Worksite Solutions, which is a division of ATI Physical Therapy, and the Institute for Musculoskeletal Advancement. The certificate will be offered via the university’s Master of Athletic Training program to give healthcare professionals the skills and strategies necessary to protect individuals’ musculoskeletal health.

According to an article on Indiana State University’s website, Tim Demchak, PhD, ATC, GTS, who serves as the Program Director of Indiana State University's MSAT program, was quoted as saying, “This certificate not only supports our students’ career growth, but also addresses a growing national need for injury-prevention professionals who can make an immediate impact across industries.”

Individuals who pursue the Workplace Injury Prevention Certificate will learn how to identify the risk factors that contribute to musculoskeletal disorders, which include arthritis and fibromyalgia, like ergonomics and behavioral risks. Students will at the same time learn how to help employers implement safety measures that will help prevent workplace injuries.

Fran Kosinski, who serves as the Senior Vice President of Health Services at ATI, said, “MSK disorders remain one of the leading causes of lost workdays and long-term disability in the U.S. workforce. By educating future clinicians in preventative care, we’re investing in a healthier, more sustainable workforce.”
