The gift will support the Scott County Dual Credit Scholarship Program, which provides financial assistance to high schoolers who wish to participate in dual credit courses.
Bluegrass Community and Technical College has received a $10,000 gift from the Scott Education & Community Foundation in support of the college’s Scott County Dual Credit Scholarship Program. The program provides financial assistance to high schoolers in Scott County who wish to participate in dual credit programs.
According to an article on Bluegrass Community and Technical College’s website, Tom Prather, who serves as the Chair of the Scott Education & Community Foundation Board, was quoted as saying of the organization’s desire to donate to the scholarship fund, “The Scott Education Foundation was established to empower young people to become leaders and changemakers in our community. Expanding access to dual credit for students with financial need is one of the most direct ways we can invest in their future and in the future of Scott County.”
Bluegrass Community and Technical College has noticed an increased interest in early college opportunities such as dual credit programs, which allow eligible high school students to earn both a high school diploma and college credits at the same time. The opportunity provides students with the ability to save both time and money as they pursue higher education.
Dr. Greg Feeney, the president of Bluegrass Community and Technical College, said, “Dual credit courses equip students with both college and high school credit, preparing them for employment or university transfer. We’re grateful to the Scott Education & Community Foundation for making this opportunity more accessible to all students in Scott County.”
