The new facility is an inflatable dome that will serve as practice and competition space for the baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, and football teams.
Trine University is set to open a new athletic facility in the spring of 2026. The facility is an inflatable dome that will be used by several different athletic teams, including the baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, and football teams, for both practice and competition.
According to an article on Trine University’s website, the university’s president, Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., was quoted as saying of the addition of the new sports facility, “We’re proud to continue to support our athletic teams with state-of-the-art facilities, allowing them to build on the many successes we’ve already achieved. In addition, this new space will allow all our students more access to Hershey Hall, which will undergo its own extensive renovations and upgrades.”
The construction of the new athletic facility is part of the university’s master plan. Also included in the plan are renovations for Hershey Hall and the Zollner Football Stadium and the construction of the Summit Street Apartments, the John and Mary Pellegrino Student Design Center. The master plan includes about $120 million worth of projects.
The inflatable dome athletic facility will be 92,000 square feet and will cost about $6 million to construct. The building will feature climate control, so it can be used year round. It will have locker rooms, artificial turf, and bleachers for spectators.
