The partnership provides scholarships to Steelcase employees and their families.
Davenport University and Steelcase have entered into a partnership that will provide Steelcase employees and their families with scholarships that will help offset the cost of continuing their education journey at Davenport University. The June 17, 2025 signing ceremony solidified the partnership and gave Steelcase employees and their families access to the university’s Gold Education Scholarship.
According to an article on Davenport University’s website, university president Richard J. Pappas, Ed.D. was quoted as saying of the new partnership, “We are pleased to partner with Steelcase, a leader in West Michigan and around the world, to champion talent development through a Davenport education. This scholarship program provides a tremendous opportunity not only for Steelcase employees, but for their family members as well. Investing in lifelong learning is critical for career growth and personal fulfillment.”
The Gold Education Scholarship is part of the university’s Corporate Education Scholarship Program. Steelcase qualified for the Gold Education level of scholarship because it is a Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) Gold-level Veterans-Friendly Employer. The Gold Education Scholarship will give eligible Steelcase employees, of which there are 11,000, up to $8,000 per year in scholarship money to attend the university. Employees’ families, including spouses and children up to the age of 29, can receive $6,500 per year. The agreement also includes a 20% discount on professional development certificates and certifications.
Isabel Medellin, Steelcase’s vice president for talent, said, “At Steelcase, we believe in investing in our employees and their families. This partnership with Davenport University empowers our employees with educational opportunities that foster career growth and enrich our communities.”
