Northeast State Community College and Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton have formed an articulation agreement that will give students who earn a diploma from TCAT Elizabethton to continue their education at Northeast State Community College and earn an associate degree in Administrative Professional Technology.
According to an article on Northeast State Community College’s website, TCAT Elizabethton President Heath McMillian was quoted as saying of the agreement, “Sometimes the future of education is unknown. But what I do know is that pathways and partnerships will be very important as we move forward. I’m grateful for the work that’s been done here and to see what that means for the future of our students.”
There are several concentrations students are able to pursue as part of their associate degree in Administrative Professional Technology studies at Northeast State Community College, including business, law, and medical office. Depending on the concentration the student chooses, they can transfer a specific number of credits from TCAT Elizabethton that will be put toward their degree.
The types of careers that an Administrative Professional Technology degree will prepare students for includes administrative assistants, office managers, and patient account representatives.
Jeff McCord, the president of Northeast State Community College, said, “With TCAT Elizabethton and Northeast State, our purpose is to make the region better and connect our region and people to prosperity, and that’s what we’re doing here today.”
