The online bilingual program has seen great success since it launched in the Fall 2024 semester. It will add three associate degrees and two certificates for the Fall 2025 semester.
Davenport University’s bilingual and online academic offering, Casa Latina, will be expanded for the Fall 2025 semester, adding three associate degrees and two graduate certificates to its roster of offerings. Casa Latina was launched as an initiative to promote bilingual speaking in professional spaces and to help bilingual individuals complete higher education.
According to an article on Davenport University’s website, Alejandra Guillén, who serves as the director of Marketing & Recruitment for Casa Latina, was quoted as saying, “With nearly half a million Latinos in Michigan, and only 2% holding a postsecondary degree, the need for an accessible, culturally affirming educational pathway is urgent. Casa Latina exists to meet this need. Many Spanish-speaking individuals—especially those who feel their English skills are not strong enough—have long considered college out of reach. Casa Latina removes this barrier, offering a fully bilingual pathway to higher education.”
Casa Latina will now offer accounting, business administration, and human resource management associate degrees, as well as business essentials and human resource management graduate certificates. Casa Latina already offered 12 programs before this expansion, including Urban STEM Education Elementary, Technology Program Management, Marketing, Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Urban Education, among others.
Guillén said, “Casa Latina provides a range of career-focused undergraduate and graduate degrees, along with bilingual support services and scholarship opportunities. Graduates leave professionally fluent in both English and Spanish, with the skills and cultural understanding to succeed in diverse work environments. At Davenport, Casa Latina students will now have the option to start with a two-year associate degree, reap the fruits of that commitment, and then finish their undergraduate degree when it’s convenient for them.”
