Bluegrass Community and Technical College has received provisional grant funding to continue supporting its adult education programs. The funding comes via the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet Office of Adult Education. While the final funding notifications are pending, the funding is expected to total around $4.5 million and will be utilized over three years to support the operation of the college’s adult education programs and services.
According to an article on Bluegrass Community and Technical College’s website, Dr. Greg Feeney, the college’s president and CEO, was quoted as saying of the funding, “We are thrilled to continue partnering with the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet to deliver critical adult education services to our community. This funding enables us to provide valuable resources that support individuals in achieving their academic and professional goals. At Bluegrass Community and Technical College, we are deeply committed to empowering adult learners across Central Kentucky, and we are excited about the positive impact this grant will have on our communities and the workforce.”
The first year’s provisional grant, which will run from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026 will support the school’s adult education programs in Anderson, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Scott, and Woodford counties. The programs provided include GED prep, civics education, workforce education, English skills, college prep, and a dual enrollment program.
David Sturgill, who serves as the Regional Director of Adult Education, said, “I am extremely pleased that BCTC Adult Education can continue the important work we have been doing since 1998. Our efforts have a profound impact on families and the communities we serve. We proudly offer opportunities to help individuals escape poverty and provide Central Kentucky with qualified postsecondary candidates and skilled workers. Additionally, we are excited to expand our services to Woodford County, further extending our reach and support while addressing the critical shortage of skilled workers in Kentucky.”
