The two universities have come together to provide students with opportunities for direct admittance into the University of Evansville’s Master of Science in Athletic Training and Doctor of Physical Therapy programs.
The University of Southern Indiana and the University of Evansville have a new partnership that will make it easier for students to pursue advanced healthcare degrees at the University of Evansville via direct entry pathways. Students from the University of Southern Indiana will be able to seamlessly transfer into the University of Evansville’s Master of Science in Athletic Training and Doctor of Physical Therapy programs thanks to the new partnership.
According to an article on the University of Southern Indiana’s website, Renee Frimming, who is a professor and the chair of Kinesiology and Sport at the university, was quoted as saying of the new agreement, "At USI, we are excited about the direct entry pathways now available for our students. This collaboration reflects our commitment to supporting student success, not only during their time at USI but also as they transition into advanced programs and professional careers. We are truly appreciative of the expanded opportunities this brings to our students."
As per the agreement, the University of Evansville will accept a limited number of students from the University of Southern Indiana’s Exercise Science, Biology, and Pre-Medical Sciences certificate programs for direct entry into the University of Evansville's Master of Science in Athletic Training and Doctor of Physical Therapy programs. In order to take advantage of these pathways, students must receive a recommendation from a faculty member at the University of Southern Indiana, and must have a 3.5 grade point average.
Jeff Tilly, professor and chair of the Department of Athletic Training at the University of Evansville, said, "We are thrilled to partner with USI to cultivate a strong pipeline of future health professionals. This agreement not only strengthens the educational options for students in the Evansville community but also addresses the growing need for highly qualified professionals in the health sciences."
