The two schools signed an agreement on August 8 that will give students the ability to attain their associate degree from Delta College and transfer their credits toward a bachelor degree from Saginaw Valley State University.
Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University have formed a partnership that will help students pursue their education goals while saving time and money. On August 8, the schools signed an agreement that will create a transfer pathway for students who have completed an associate degree with Delta College and help them transfer credits to Saginaw Valley State University in pursuit of a bachelor degree.
According to an article on Delta College’s website, Michael Gavin, the college’s president, shared his enthusiasm for the new partnership and the benefits it will provide his students. He is quoted as saying, “As part of Delta College’s strategic plan, The Way Forward, Delta is focused on ensuring students complete their degree and succeed after graduation. Helping our graduates obtain a bachelor’s without losing credits, time or money, removes the barriers that often prevent students from achieving their goals.”
As part of the partnership, the two schools will also make changes to its existing reverse transfer agreement. The existing reverse transfer process is one in which students who transfer to Saginaw Valley State University before obtaining an associate degree from Delta College can have their credits sent back to Delta to look into having them applied to an associate degree.
George Grant Jr, the president of Saginaw Valley State University, said, “SVSU welcomes more transfer students from Delta College than any other institution, and today’s signing will only serve to increase those opportunities for students, as we collaborate to provide high-quality postsecondary education for our community.”
