The college’s Borra School of Nursing and Health Sciences was named after Pier and Renee Borra in honor of their more than two decades of support to the college.
The scholarship was established by the Dichtel family in honor of the late Ronald J. Dichtel, who founded Concord Tool and Manufacturing.
The grant, which totals just under $100,000, will allow the college to provide assistance to students who are experiencing financial hardships and keep them enrolled in school.
The college is one of nine to join the 2025 cohort. Achieving the Dream aims to help community colleges become accessible hubs of education and economic mobility.
The partnership between the school district and the college is a collaborative effort for adult education programs.
The partnership provides scholarships to Steelcase employees and their families.
The Michigan Board of Nursing has approved the college’s Licensed Practical Nursing certificate program, which was last offered by the college in 1999.
The college’s paramedic and EMT training programs will be available at two additional locations for the Fall 2025 semester, including the Bay College campus in Iron Mountain and in Luce County.
The summer program for high school seniors will be hosted on campus in 2026, 2027, and 2028. The university first hosted the program in the 1980s.
The university received a $30,000 match grant from the Joseph W. Craft III Foundation to support its work through the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE) Vocation Across the Academy Grant.
