Miami University is now the Official University of the Cincinnati Bengals. The founder of the Bengals, Paul Brown, graduated from Miami University in 1930.
The new track will allow students to complete the program in five semesters. The accelerated version of the program uses the same curriculum as the traditional program, allowing students flexibility.
The program will be free for Ohio residents thanks to Choose Ohio First funding.
The new initiative will prepare students to work in in-demand fields like artificial intelligence, data science, and cybersecurity, among others.
The university’s previous IT Workforce Accelerator has been expanded and renamed to the Advanced Technology Workforce Accelerator.
The grant will fund the establishment of the Student Resilience Center, which will assist students with material needs like food as well as mental health support.
The building’s expansion and remodel cost approximately $31.3 million and includes new labs, classrooms, and technology. A grand opening was held on Monday, March 17.
The scholarship was endowed by alumnus Charles D. Joseph, who was inspired to start the scholarship in honor of his wife Jo Ann, a retired registered nurse.
The gift comes from John Elliot, a Kent State University graduate, and his wife Fonda. The Elliot Scholars program will support first-generation students of any major who are in financial need.
Achieving the Dream is a nonprofit organization that seeks to help community colleges become accessible education hubs. COTC has been part of the Achieving the Dream Network since 2021.
