The scholarship was endowed by alumnus Charles D. Joseph, who was inspired to start the scholarship in honor of his wife Jo Ann, a retired registered nurse.
The gift comes from John Elliot, a Kent State University graduate, and his wife Fonda. The Elliot Scholars program will support first-generation students of any major who are in financial need.
