Students who successfully complete the Medical Billing and Coding program at West Virginia Northern Community College will receive a Certificate of Applied Science and the opportunity to test for a nationally-approved medical billing and coding credential. Students will be instructed in business math, medical terminology, and accounts receivable.
The Medical Assisting, Administrative program at West Virginia Northern Community College will be instructed on the administrative parts of a medical assistant role, including medical financial management, HIPAA and OSHA compliance, and therapeutic communication techniques. Students who successfully finish the course will be able to apply for the associate's degree program.
West Virginia Northern Community College also offers a clinical track of the Medical Assisting program, which awards an Associate of Applied Science degree. The goal of the program is to prepare students to become qualified for entry-level medical assistant positions. Students will take part in a 160-hour practicum to allow for more hands-on training.
The program’s development is the result of various industry partnerships. Students will learn the skills to perform maintenance on industrial compressor systems.
HVAC Excellence has accredited the HVAC program at West Virginia Northern Community College. WVNCC is the first institution in West Virginia to receive its accreditation.
