The Bardstown Collection was sold by six area distilleries and the profits from sales of the collection will go toward scholarships for Midway University students.
Future students in Midway University's Bourbon Studies minor will soon be eligible for a new $5,000 renewable scholarship thanks to Visit Bardstown and the Bardstown Collection.
According to an article on Midway University’s website, President of Midway University Dr. John Marsden was quoted as saying, “With the ever-growing interest in the Bourbon Trail and Equine Tourism, Midway University is well-positioned to provide students the education necessary for job opportunities in those professions. We appreciate the support of these distilleries to help us provide students from Nelson County access to that education.”
The exclusive Bardstown Collection products were only available through the collection and only on-site at six distilleries. The profits from the sales of the collection will be given to two Nelson County students who are taking the Bourbon Studies minor.
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the students must be first-time freshmen in Fall 2024, hail from Nelson County, and plan to major in Accounting, Business, Computer Science, or Marketing and minor in Bourbon Studies. The scholarship will be renewable for up to four years.
The Bourbon Studies minor is designed to teach students the history of the industry, as well as the culture that surrounds it. When paired with the aforementioned majors, students who take the minor will be prepared to become a part of the thriving Bourbon tourism industry in Kentucky.
Future students can begin to apply for the scholarship in February.
