New scholarships available to students in physical therapy and occupational therapy programs at Roane State Community College

The scholarships are available thanks to a partnership with The Morning Pointe Foundation.

Roane State Community College students who are enrolled in the physical therapy or occupational therapy programs can now apply for new scholarships provided by The Morning Pointe Foundation.

The Morning Pointe Foundation is itself a partner organization to Morning Pointe Senior Living, and is a charitable organization that financially supports future caregivers through scholarships and creates partnerships with other community organizations. The Morning Pointe Foundation has funded upwards of 75 scholarships at various institutions.

According to an article on Roane State Community College’s website, Miranda Perez, who is the executive director of the Morning Pointe Foundation, discussed the organization’s decision to fund scholarships at Roane State Community College, saying, “Partners like Roane State Community College are critical to the success of the Morning Pointe Foundation as we strive to provide financial support for students pursuing careers related to senior care. Physical and occupational therapy is being used more and more with the aging population, and there is a real need for therapists. It’s a great healthcare career and a great way to help seniors live more independently for longer.”

Greg A. Vital, who is the president of Morning Pointe Senior Living, added, “Especially in our post-pandemic healthcare environment, skilled employees like our Morning Pointe Foundation scholars are an incredibly precious resource. Their contributions are a blessing to society, and it is our privilege to assist in bringing new and passionate caregivers into the workforce.”

The scholarships provided by The Morning Pointe Foundation will amount to $1,500 each for a student in physical therapy and occupational therapy associate degree programs.

Scott Niermann, who serves as the executive director of the Roane State Foundation, said, “We are so thankful to the Morning Pointe Foundation for this generous gift that will support students pursuing these vital programs. Both of the new scholarships will help remove financial barriers so that students can achieve their goals in the classroom and beyond.”
