Hard work and extensive preparation leads to 100% NCLEX pass rate for Eastern Kentucky University

Eastern Kentucky University is celebrating the success of its most recent cohort of AAS Nursing students achieving a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX exam. The standardized test checks students’ knowledge before they can begin a nursing career.

According to an article on Eastern Kentucky University’s website, this achievement can be attributed to the program’s instructors, the students’ hard work, and NCLEX review preparations. The eight students in the cohort all passed the test on their first attempt.

Dr. Brooke Bentley, chair of EKU’s School of Nursing, said, “The School of Nursing faculty take great pride in our AASN and BSN graduates. Our graduates are prepared to deliver quality, evidence-based nursing care. We are confident each graduate will make a significant impact in meeting the healthcare needs of our service region and the Commonwealth.”

Last semester, the coursework featured plenty of interactive learning assignments to help prepare the nursing students to do well both as future nurses and on the test. Students participated in group discussions, clinical experiences, and review games to help solidify the material in the students’ minds. 

David McFaddin, the president of Eastern Kentucky University, shared his feelings about this accomplishment, saying, “This accomplishment reinforces EKU's commitment to meeting the needs of the Commonwealth’s workforce. We’re producing highly skilled nursing professionals who are equipped to meet today’s healthcare challenges. A perfect pass rate demonstrates the quality and excellent education provided in our reputable nursing program.”
