Third consecutive Physician Assistant class achieves 100% certification rate

The 2023 class of Physician Assistant graduates at West Liberty University achieved a 100% pass rate of the PANCE Exam, the third class in a row for the school to do so.

The 2023 Physician Assistant graduates at West Liberty University have achieved an impressive 100% first time pass rate on the physician assistant national certifying examination (or PANCE).

This class is the third class of Physician Assistant graduates in a row from West Liberty University who have earned a 100% pass rate. 

The PANCE exam is a test that assesses surgical and medical knowledge of a physician assistant and is a national requirement to receive certification.

West Liberty University’s Physician Assistant Program Director Sarah Brammer, MSPAS, PA-C was quoted in an article posted on the school’s website as saying, “We congratulate the PA Class of 2023 on their 100% PANCE pass rate, which showcases their dedication and learning over the last two years. This achievement is also a testament to the outstanding learning environment provided by the faculty, staff, preceptors, adjuncts, and guest lecturers of the WLU PA program as well as the support of the University and the local healthcare community.”

Dr. Tim Borchers, who serves as West Liberty University’s president, weighed in as well, saying, “The consistently strong pass rate of the West Liberty Physician Assistant students reflects the high quality of the academic programs at the University. It is also an indication that the WLU faculty are skilled and knowledgeable in their field and that they provide a personalized education for our students.”

The graduates from the 2023 Physician Assistant class are Lauren White, McMurray, PA; Jacob Vial, Twin Bridges, MT; Halie Trouten, Rayland, OH; Lauren Ruffing, Bentleyville, PA; Gabriel Rohmann, Wheeling, WV; Justin Rice, New Martinsville, WV; Joseph Mills, Harpers Ferry, WV; Nastaran Hosseini, Westminster, CO; Sarah Harmon, Wheeling, WV; Destinee Frye, Wheeling, WV; Madeline Frischman, Pittsburgh, PA; Skylar Fankhauser, Amsterdam, OH; Louis Durante IV, St. George, VT; Deidra DeMoss, Fairmont, WV; David Day, Rexburg, ID; Matthew Colonna, South Charleston, WV; and Lydia Adrian, Morgantown, WV.

This most recent Physician Assistant class is the 10th class to graduate from the program that started back in 2012. West Liberty University’s Masters in Physician Assistant Studies degree program is a two-year year-round program. A new course starts every July. The program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission of Education for the Physician Assistant, and includes a first year of in-class didactic work, and a second year of clinical rotations along with the supervision of licensed clinical preceptors. The program has a small class size of only 18 students and focuses on training competent and compassionate professionals who will go on to become integral members of the healthcare workforce.
