Mid Michigan College dedicated to helping students apply for the new Michigan Achievement Scholarship

Students who are looking to apply for the new Michigan Achievement Scholarship and require assistance filling out the required FAFSA forms can receive help online or in person from Mid Michigan College’s student services team.

Students who choose to attend Mid Michigan College this fall will have an opportunity to receive a large boost of free financial aid. The Michigan Achievement Scholarship allows Michigan students who have graduated from high school, or have received a high school equivalent certificate, in 2023 to be eligible for more financial aid from the State of Michigan than normal.

In an article posted on Mid Michigan College’s website, Beth Binder, Director of Admissions talked about the new scholarship, saying, “This is such an exciting opportunity for graduating high school seniors. Students can receive up to $2,750 each year for up to three years while attending Mid—that’s huge!”

Students will have to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms to determine whether or not they are eligible to receive the Michigan Achievement Scholarship.

To be eligible for the scholarship, the FAFSA must show that a student has an Estimated Family Contribution of $25,000 or less. This means a student who comes from a family with an annual income of $150,000 or less could be able to qualify.

“It’s estimated that the scholarship will cover 94% of students attending community colleges. This scholarship is a game-changer and we hope to see many students complete the FAFSA to take advantage of this new resource,” said Binder.

Binder noted that the school can assist students and their families with the FAFSA forms, saying, “We know the FAFSA can be intimidating, that’s why we’re here to help.” The Michigan Achievement Scholarship, as well as other forms of financial aid, can only be unlocked by filling out the FAFSA forms.

Mid Michigan College’s Student Services teams are available both online and on campus to aid students and their families with FAFSA forms when it is convenient.

Interested students can connect with admissions by visiting midmich.edu/admissions, emailing admissions@midmich.edu, or calling (989) 386-6661. Students can also schedule an online appointment. Students can visit the Student Services offices on the Mt. Pleasant or Harrison campuses, as well.

Binder reiterated the school’s desire to help: “We want students and families to know about this opportunity and that we’re here to help them take the necessary steps to take advantage of it. This scholarship opens the door to a college education wider than ever before and we’re here to help students walk through it.”
