Washington State Community College names David Hermann to Vice President of Student Affairs position

Washington State Community College has completed its leadership team by hiring a new Vice President of Student Affairs, David Hermann, who comes to the school from Lakeshore Technical College in Wisconsin.

David Hermann has been named the Vice President of Student Affairs at Washington State Community College, marking the completion of the school’s leadership team. Hermann has thus far had a long career in higher education, and is joining Washington State Community College from Cleveland, Wisconsin’s Lakeshore Technical College.

In an article on the school’s website, Dr. Vicky Wood, who serves as Washington State Community College’s President, spoke on the new addition to the team, saying, “David is a great addition to the strong leadership team we currently have in place. His breadth of experience in student affairs combined with his multi-state experience, established partnerships, and his ability to secure grants will add value as we advance the mission of the college.”

Before coming to Washington State Community College, Hermann worked in many different leadership roles such as Director of Enrollment Services at Kankakee Community College in Illinois and Executive Director of Admissions and High School Relations at Lakeshore Technical College in Wisconsin. He started in higher education as an Academic Advisor at both Kankakee Community College and the University of North Texas. He also served several years in the K-12 school system in Illinois before coming to higher education.

Hermann was quoted about his coming to Washington State as saying, “My family and I are overjoyed to live in Marietta and to be members of the Washington State Community College family. Washington State’s strong commitment to student success and community involvement are in direct alignment with my values and I am excited to be a part of this college’s bright future.”

Hermann earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Illinois State University, then a Master of Arts degree in School Counseling from Governors State University, and is working toward his Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Higher Education Administration from Illinois State University currently.
