University of Southern Indiana to hold 25th Annual Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Symposium

Dr. Sally K. Miller will be the presenter at the 25th Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Symposium at the University of Southern Indiana.

On Friday, April 28 at the University of Southern Indiana’s Carter Hall, the 25th Annual Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Symposium will take place. Dr. Sally K. Miller, who is a Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Professor at the Drexel University College of Nursing and Health Professions, will be the presenter at the event. The symposium will be available both in person and virtually. 

Dr. Miller is not only a teacher of pharmacology and physiology to advanced practice registered nursing students, but she is also the APRN consultant and investigator to the Nevada State Board of Nursing. She also maintains an active clinical practice with iCarePsychiatry and Sahara Family Practice in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also a senior associate lecturer with Fitzgerald Health Education Associates. 

Dr. Miller has certifications from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in psychiatric-mental health nurse practice, adult-gerontology primary care, and adult-gerontology acute care. She is also a fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and has been published several times in nurse practitioner journals.

The University of Southern Indiana’s Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Symposium exists to provide attendees with current and practical information that will expand knowledge and improve assessment skills with regard to patient management strategies. This year, the symposium will cover topics such as behavioral disorders in children and adolescents, pharmacotherapeutics, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, managing dyslipidemia, and hypertension management. Nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, and other healthcare providers in acute care and ambulatory settings will find the presentations of this year’s symposium useful.

The Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Symposium has been designated by the University of Southern Indiana for 5.75 contact hours. Continuing education hours are also available to Health Facility Administrators, MCHES, CHES, social workers, pharmacists, physicians, and nurses. More Continuing Education hours will also be available for dental professionals, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapists, family therapists, and Indiana licensed marriage therapists. 

The symposium will also contain 4.5 hours specific to pharmacotherapeutics, which meets the advanced practice registered nurse prescriptive authority license continuing education requirements.

Registration costs for the Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Symposium are $20 for undergraduate students, $60 for current graduate students, and $130 for professionals.
