A new partnership between Mercy College of Ohio and Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School has been announced. It will allow high school students to earn college credit and job shadow a variety of healthcare jobs.

Mercy College of Ohio and Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School have announced a new partnership with the aim of providing more opportunities to students. The partnership is set up to allow high school students more access to college-level classes while still in high school, specifically with the goal of exposing them to the variety of careers in the healthcare industry.

The partnership between the two schools will allow Cardinal Stritch students to earn both high school and college credit in Mercy College’s College Credit Plus program that starts this August, while taking classes in high school. Students will also be able to participate in a wide range of healthcare industry shadowing opportunities and attend presentations by speakers through Mercy College and Mercy Health.

In an article on Mercy College’s website, Mel Viers, who serves as the principal for Cardinal Stritch, talked about the benefits both institutions will see from this partnership, saying, "Mercy College of Ohio is a good fit for Cardinal Stritch as both institutions are Catholic while valuing small class sizes and individual student attention. This partnership is an opportunity for our students to access college coursework in healthcare while gaining hands-on experience in potential careers in medicine. We are thrilled to be chosen by Mercy College of Ohio as the first school to have this partnership!"

The Vice President of Academic Affairs for Mercy College Dr. Manuel Martinez also chimed in, saying, "Mercy College is excited to partner with Cardinal Stritch to help students reach their full potential. By working together, we can create a seamless educational experience for Cardinal Stritch students that will enhance and expedite their path to college readiness and completion while exploring their prospective careers."
