Mid Michigan College and Northwood University sign transfer agreement

Several major programs at Mid Michigan College and Northwood University now have easy transfer pathways, thanks to a new transfer agreement between the two schools.

Mid Michigan College and Northwood University have entered into a new agreement that will let MMC students complete a bachelor’s degree at Northwood University. Students will take classes at Mid Michigan College for three years and finish their degree after one year at Northwood University.

Kristin Stehouwer, provost and vice president of Academics at Northwood University, was quoted in an article about the agreement by The Morning Sun, saying, “We are removing barriers to degree completion. This agreement symbolizes the strong relationship between Northwood and Mid Michigan College and most importantly helps us collectively serve our students’ needs.”

The new partnership allows for students to study for three years at Mid Michigan College and seamlessly transfer to Northwood to finish their degree in only one year within these majors: management information systems, management, health care management, and accounting.

The Morning Sun also quoted the President of Mid Michigan College Tim Hood who said of the agreement, “Beyond this agreement, Northwood and Mid both share a strong history of responding to the needs of our communities and providing access to an affordable education. This agreement acknowledges the hard work of our students and allows them to build upon the credits and credentials earned at Mid as they complete a bachelor’s degree at Northwood.”

Articulation agreements (also known as transfer agreements) like this one are formal partnerships between at least two colleges that make it easier and simpler for students to transfer between partnering schools without losing any credits.
