Walters State Community College is offering two classes in auctioneering starting in February. Classes will be held over Zoom.
Students interested in achieving an auctioneering license can prepare for the exam with new online classes held by Walters State Community College.
The courses will be provided through Waters State’s Division of Workforce Training. Students will have the option of taking a 50-hour course for an apprenticeship license, or a 16-hour course for a gallery license. Classes will take place in February and will be taken over Zoom.
Assistant Dean for Workforce Training at Walters State, Anita Ricker, was quoted in a press release on the school’s website sharing details of the class, saying, “This class will be live, meeting at the same time every week. The instructor is great and past students have been very successful.”
The 16-hour gallery license class will take place between February 7-16 and meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-10 p.m. The cost of the class is $434. Attendants to the class will learn the advanced topics of auctioneering that will prepare them for the state licensure exam. After completing the class and passing Tennessee’s gallery exam, students will be able to apply to the Tennessee Auctioneer Commission for a gallery license.
The 50-hour apprenticeship auctioneer class will take place between February 7 and March 23 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-10 p.m. That class will cost $634. The apprenticeship auctioneer class will cover the same topics covered in the other course, as well as the basic skills needed for students to become an apprentice auctioneer. After finishing the course and passing the auctioneer apprenticeship exam, graduates can apply for an apprentice license through the Tennessee Auctioneer Commission.
As the class is online only, course materials and a Zoom link will be sent after registering for the class.
