Elizabeth Youngblood named new nursing program director at Nashville State Community College

The nursing program at Nashville State Community College has a new director in Elizabeth Youngblood, RN, WHNP, BC, CNE, Ed.D. 

Nashville State Community College Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Carol Rothstein, was quoted in the Tennessee Tribune on the appointment, saying, “I am exceptionally proud to say that Nashville State Community College Nursing is a highly-regarded program, having educated leaders in the field for years, with expert instructors who have years of clinical experience and a vast network. Beth has a tremendous amount of experience in academia and on the clinical side, which will serve the program well as it continues to maintain its level of excellence and possibly expand.” 

Youngblood will be providing leadership as well as coordinating the financial, administrative, and educational affairs of the nursing program. She will also be developing an environment of support for faculty while continually improving the high-quality nursing programs at the school. The goals and success of students will also be an important consideration in her work.

She spoke on the importance of healthcare in society, saying, “Healthcare is a critical service in our daily life. I am honored to lead and be part of a high-performing team that produces successful program outcomes and leaders in clinical settings.” 

Youngblood has both clinical and academic experience. She is a registered nurse who has certifications in basic cardiac life support, nurse education, and women’s health nurse practice. She has previously worked at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, Columbia State Community College, Belmont University School of Nursing, and Lipscomb University School of Nursing. She also has clinical experience from working for Brentwood Primary Care, Staggs and Burch, Maury Regional Hospital, and Tennessee Obstetrics and Gynecology. 

She holds an Associate of Science and Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Belmont University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, and a Doctorate in Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University. 

The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree program at Nashville State Community College has an NCLEX licensure exam pass rate of 97%, according to a six-year average. The program has a job placement rate of 99.5%, as well. The program has gained full approval status by the Tennessee Board of Nursing and has an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing accreditation.
