Lakeland Community College designated Military Friendly School for ninth time

For the ninth time in the school’s history, and first time since 2017, Lakeland Community College has been given the Military Friendly School Designation for the 2022-23 school year.

Lakeland Community College recently announced that the school has once again earned the Military Friendly School designation. The 2022-23 school year is the ninth year that Lakeland Community College has been given this designation. The last time the school was given the designation was back in 2017.

Evaluations for the Military Friendly School designation are done using a proprietary survey and public data sources. According to Military Friendly, almost 2,000 schools participated in the 2022-23 survey, with only 665 earning special awards by going above and beyond the standard.

A list of the schools that have earned the Military Friendly designation will be published in the magazine G.I. Jobs and on Military Friendly’s website.

Viqtory, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business and the Military Friendly Advisory Council worked together to develop the criteria, methodology, and weightings used to determine which institutions would be awarded the Military Friendly designation.

Final ratings are made by combining the assessment of the schools’ ability to meet certain amounts of student loan default rates, repayment, degree advancement, job placement, and student retention, as well as each institution’s independent survey results.

Kayla Lopez, Military Friendly’s National Director of Military Partnerships, was quoted in the News Herald about the designation process: “Military Friendly is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our (designation) process. Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the military community. This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages colleges to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools who achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, going over and above that standard.”

S. Rhonda Osagie-Erese spoke of her pleasure with the designation, saying, “Our team works hard to provide our student veterans and military-connected students with a variety of resources, both academic and personal, to help them succeed. Being recognized for our efforts reinforces our dedication and commitment.”

More information about the student veteran programs at Lakeland Community College can be found at the school’s website.
