Cathryn Johnson Rolfe named new Chief Operating Officer at Galen College of Nursing

Galen College of Nursing has created a Chief Operating Officer position after operating for 30 years without one, naming Cathryn Johnson Rolfe to the position.

Galen College of Nursing in Kentucky has named Cathryn Johnson Rolfe as its new Chief Operating Officer. Rolfe is the first person to fill this position in the 30-year history of the school. Galen College of Nursing is part of the HCA Healthcare network and is singularly focused on providing nursing education; as such, it is one of the largest nursing schools in the country.

CEO of Galen College of Nursing, Mark Vogt, spoke with EIN News about the appointment of Rolfe to the position: “As we expand access to nursing education, we will expand our leadership capabilities to meet the needs of future nurses and the communities we serve. The addition of an accomplished leader such as Cathryn Rolfe will help us do just that. With her distinguished background and vast experience, Cathryn will be instrumental in helping guide Galen successfully into the future. We are proud to welcome her to the family.”

Before her appointment at Galen College of Nursing, Cathryn Johnson Rolfe was the Associate General Counsel for Vanderbilt University and Chief Business Officer for the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Office of Health Sciences Education. In that position, Rolfe was in charge of finances and operations of the graduate medical education activities, undergraduate medical education, and the Center for Experiential Learning and Assessment. Between those positions and her new job as COO at Galen, Rolfe was the Chief Operating Officer of the HCA Healthcare Graduate Medical Education service line, at which she helped it to become the largest physician residency training system in the country.

Rolfe also spoke with EIN news and was quoted as saying of her new job, “I am excited to join Mark Vogt and Galen College of Nursing in their mission to expand access to quality nursing education and address the critical nursing shortage within our healthcare system. Galen’s evolution in the last few years is equally exciting and challenging. I am thrilled to bring my experience and expertise to help Galen navigate these impending waters and look forward to help build the pipeline of the next generation of great nurses.”

Galen College of Nursing offers associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees as well as practical and vocational nursing programs.
