University of Louisville receives funding from WHAS Crusade for Children

The University of Louisville, UofL Health, and WHAS Crusade for Children have had a longstanding partnership with WHAS Crusade for Children having provided $20 million in grant funding over the years.

The University of Louisville, UofL Health, and WHAS Crusade for Children have reaffirmed their longstanding 30-year partnership with the WHAS Crusade for Children providing $325,000 in funding this year. The new funding will impact the lives of children and families in the region through new equipment, clinics, and scholarships for students pursuing special education.

According to an article on the University of Louisville’s website, Dawn Lee, who serves as the president and CEO of WHAS Crusade for Children, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “The partnership between the WHAS Crusade for Children and the University of Louisville is proof that this community’s generosity truly changes lives. UofL continues to transform grants into care, research and education that make life better for children with identified needs. This legacy has opened doors for generations of children, and the best is yet to come.”

In this newest set of funding, $200,000 will go toward new equipment for UofL Health – UofL Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, $50,000 will be utilized for equipment at UofL Health – Peace Hospital, $22,500 will go toward equipment in the UofL Health – Frazier Rehabilitation Institute Pediatric Rehabilitation Program at UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, $30,000 for the UofL School of Music/Music Therapy Clinic, and $22,000 for special education scholarships in UofL’s College of Education and Human Development.

Jeffrey Bumpous, who serves as the executive vice president of health affairs and the medical school dean at the university, was quoted as saying, “On behalf of the University of Louisville, I extend heartfelt thanks to the WHAS Crusade for Children for their extraordinary generosity and decades of unwavering support. Together, we are transforming lives, strengthening families and building a brighter future for children throughout the commonwealth.”

According to the website for WHAS Crusade for Children, the organization’s mission is to “[make] life better for children with identified health care, educational, and emotional wellness needs by inspiring generosity with our community partners.”
