Tiffin University to open new Center for Innovation and Learning

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the new academic building will be held on August 23, 2025.

Tiffin University is set to open its newest academic building, the Center for Innovation and Learning, with a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for August 23, 2025. The celebratory event, held at the Center for Innovation and Learning at 88 S. Sandusky St. at 12:30pm, will be open to the public and will include a tour of the building and refreshments. 

According to an article on Tiffin University’s website, Dr. Lillian Schumacher, the university’s president, was quoted as saying of the new building, “The grand opening of the Center for Innovation and Learning is an exciting milestone for Tiffin University. This building was designed first and foremost for our students – to enrich their academic journey and prepare them for the realities of an ever-evolving professional world. It provides access to cutting-edge tools, forward-thinking technology and an environment that fosters creativity, collaboration and innovation. With spaces like the Gary and Laura Robinette Center for Entrepreneurship, this facility embodies our deep commitment to experiential learning and real-world application. We are proud to celebrate this moment with our donors, community partners and all who helped make this transformative facility a reality.”

The Center for Innovation and Learning is a 30,000 square foot building with 14 classrooms, office spaces, a boardroom, and a cafe. In addition, the Center for Innovation and Learning is the new hub for the Gary and Laura Robinette Center for Entrepreneurship to help facilitate networking opportunities with community partners.

Dr. Peter J. Holbrook, the university’s provost and chief operating officer, said of the new space, “This new facility marks an important step forward in creating learning environments that meet the needs of today’s students and educators. By providing flexible, technology-equipped classrooms and collaborative spaces, this facility empowers our faculty to engage students with innovative teaching methods that promote creativity and critical thinking. We look forward to celebrating the official opening of this facility and sharing how it will shape the future of teaching and learning at Tiffin University.”

School leadership is looking forward to the Center for Innovation and Learning becoming a space for students to take part in transformative learning experiences, engage with local businesses, and enhance the overall campus experience for students, faculty, and staff.
