The recognition comes from the National League for Nursing. Ursuline College was first named a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education in 2021.
Ursuline College has once again been recognized for its nursing programs, earning the recognition of Center of Excellence in Nursing Education from the National League of Nursing. Having first earned this recognition in 2021, the college has been working to improve and expand its nursing education. The college will be formally recognized as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education at the 2025 NLN Education Summit Honors Convocation in September.
According to an article on Ursuline College’s website, Patricia Sharpnack, DNP, RN, CNE, NEA-BC, ANEF, FAAN, who serves as the college’s dean of the Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions, explained the college’s recent advancements in its nursing education. She is quoted as saying, “Since the College was first named an NLN Center of Excellence in 2021, we’ve pioneered a unique corporate partnership to develop an online doctoral-level nurse anesthesia program, launched the state’s first Emergency Nurse Practitioner and led the way in adopting innovative technologies like HoloLens and Resuscitation Quality Improvement for CPR training. Our students receive more than a cutting-edge nursing education--they become part of the next generation of nurse leaders that are shaping the future of healthcare.”
Dr. Caitlin Yeager, who serves as the Director of the Health Resources and Simulation Center, was also recently recognized for their teaching, earning the recognition of Fellow of the NLN Academy of Nursing Education.
“We are fortunate to have nationally recognized professors like Dr. Yeager. Their expertise and mentorship are vital to our students' success,” said Sharpnack.
David A. King, EdD, the president of Ursuline College, shared, “This honor affirms that you don’t need to be the biggest school to deliver exceptional nursing education. Key ingredients are passionate, dedicated faculty and staff and strong leadership—qualities we are proud to have in Dr. Sharpnack and her team.”
