The new Active Duty Military Undergraduate Scholarship will cover expenses not already covered by Military Tuition Assistance, up to $5,000 and 18 credits per year.
Wright State University has signified its support of its students who are active-duty military members by providing them with more financial support to complete their college education. The new Active Duty Military Undergraduate Scholarship will provide these students with coverage of up to $5,000 and 18 credits annually for approved courses that are not already covered by Military Tuition Assistance. This new scholarship joins the university’s offered WPAFB Graduate School Scholarship, which provides $6,000 each year to base employees, reservists, and their family members.
According to an article on Wright State University’s website, Jason Anderson, Ph.D., who serves as the executive director of Wright State’s Center for Civics, Culture and Workforce Development, was quoted as saying of the new scholarship, “We are committed to removing financial barriers to education for the military community. Whether through the new undergraduate scholarship for active-duty members or the WPAFB Graduate School Scholarship, Wright State ensures that airmen, reservists, base personnel and their families have the resources to pursue their academic and professional goals. These efforts help strengthen the critical workforce pipeline that supports the Department of Defense — and we are honored to be part of that mission.”
The university has a long-standing relationship with the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, with the university working to align its offerings to the needs of the air force base. Military-affiliated students receive flexible scheduling, online course options, credit for military experience, and personal connections with military-affiliated staff and students.
Dakota Flood is a Wright State University student who is currently serving in the 88th Communications Squadron at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Flood is already benefiting from the new scholarship. Flood said, “While I’m fortunate to have Military Tuition Assistance to help with my college expenses, it doesn’t fully cover the cost of attending a university like Wright State. The Active Duty Military Undergraduate Scholarship is a tremendous gift that bridges that gap. Thanks to this scholarship, I can dedicate my personal finances to supporting my children, knowing my educational goals are within reach.”
