University of Rio Grande reduces tuition cost for nursing program

The tuition reduction is a strategic move that the university is hopeful will help mitigate the state’s current nursing shortage.

The University of Rio Grande has announced a 30% tuition reduction for its Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The state of Ohio is currently experiencing a shortage of qualified nurses in its healthcare facilities, and the university hopes their decision to reduce the costs of obtaining a nursing degree will have a positive impact on the region.

According to an article on the University of Rio Grande’s website, Alycia Combs, the university’s Director of Nursing, was quoted as saying of the tuition decrease, “Our new $200 per course fee will put more nurses into the workforce with a quality education. With scholarships, grants, and many employers offering tuition reimbursement, the actual cost for most students will be even less.”

The program has been designed for students who are already registered nurses and who have a current, unencumbered state nursing license. Further working through nursing education can give nurses better career prospects and enhance their current nursing skills to help them become the most effective nurse possible.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is an online program that can be started in either the fall or the spring, on a full time or a part time schedule. Additionally, the new tuition discount is applicable for students both within Ohio and from out of state, increasing the accessibility of affordable nursing education.
