Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College forms transfer agreement with Point Park University

The partnership will allow graduates of Eastern WVCTC to transfer to Point Park University to complete an online bachelor degree program in one of four subjects.

Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College has formed a partnership with Point Park University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The partnership comes in the form of a transfer agreement that will allow students who graduate from Eastern WVCTC to transfer to Point Park University to pursue an online bachelor degree program in one of four fields, including Accounting, Biological Sciences, Business Administration, and Applied Computer Systems.

According to an article on Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s website, Monica Wilson, who serves as the college’s V.P. of Academics and Student Services, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “This partnership between Eastern WVCTC and Point Park University represents an incredible opportunity for our graduates to seamlessly continue their education and advance their careers. By providing a clear, accessible pathway to a bachelor’s degree, we are reinforcing our commitment to student success and workforce development in our region.”

The transfer agreement has been designed so that students will be able to maximize their credits earned at Eastern that will be applied toward a bachelor degree at Point Park University. Students who have earned an associate degree from Eastern will have satisfied 60 of the required 120 credits for a bachelor degree from Point Park University.

Students who have completed an Associate in Applied Science or Associate in Science in Accounting from Eastern can enter the Accounting bachelor degree program at Point Park. Eastern students who completed a degree in Biological & Environmental Technology can transfer into the Biological Sciences program at Point Park. Graduates of Eastern’s Business Management program can enter Point Park’s Business Administration program. And students who completed Eastern’s Information Technology program can take Point Park’s Applied Computer Systems program.

The transfer agreement will make it easier for students to complete a four-year degree more quickly and at a lower cost, removing barriers to higher education for the community.
