The scholarship establishment was a surprise birthday present from Irene Griffith to her husband Tim on his 75th birthday.
Morehead State University has received a gift from Irene Griffith to establish the Tim Griffith Scholarship Endowment. The establishment of the scholarship was a surprise birthday present from Irene to her husband, a 1971 Morehead State University graduate.
According to an article on Morehead State University’s website, Allison Caudill, who serves as the vice president for University Advancement, was quoted as saying of the scholarship establishment, "Getting to work with Irene on the creation of this scholarship for Tim was such an honor. Tim's MSU pride runs deep, and the fact that Irene chose to recognize that in this way is so special."
Tim Griffith graduated with a degree in Business Administration and worked as a state accountant in Texas, which is where he and Irene met and started their family. Tim worked for Uarco Business and McGraw Printing Corporation before starting his own business in 1996 called Paperflow, Inc. He served on the MSU Alumni Board of Directors from 2017 to 2023.
The $25,000 gift will endow the scholarship fund, which will be used to help students remove financial barriers from completing their education.
Tim was surprised on his 75th birthday at a Morehead State University basketball game in February.
