Over 11,000 students at Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington showed up for Ivy Tech Day, with students gathering to give at the other 18 campuses to raise almost $500,000 total.
April 8, 2025 marked another Ivy Tech Day. The day served as a great benefit for over 11,000 students at Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington. This year’s day of giving was the third annual of such days, and partners, employees, friends, and alumni all banded together to give a total of 178 gifts totalling $39,588. The Bloomington campus ranked third in the state for total funds raised. Ivy Tech Community College currently has 19 total campuses.
Across the state of Indiana, Ivy Tech Community College saw its most successful giving day so far, with $483,813 raised from nearly 3,000 gifts. The money raised will go to support student success programs and scholarships such as Ivy Tech’s nationally ranked nursing program. That program graduates the most associate level nurses (or ASN/RN) of any learning institution in America.
Another place the funds are headed is a fund to help economically insecure nursing students pay the fee to take the NCLEX exam, which is the final exam a student takes on their way to becoming a nurse.
In an article posted on the school’s website, executive director of development at Ivy Tech Heidi Schulz was quoted about the day of giving, saying, “We are removing barriers with Ivy Tech Day funds, including funding for certification exams, emergency aid, faculty development, and other student support such as scholarships. Ivy Tech Bloomington is grateful to our donors for their gifts, which will have a lasting impact on our students and communities.”
The Bloomington campus alone offers around $160,000 in scholarships every year to assist students in paying their college expenses on their way to completing their education.
Some of the impacts Ivy Tech Community College has on the state include: a student completion rate increase up 119% since 2016, Ivy Tech has awarded over 46,000 credentials in the past two years, and almost half of those have been earned by in state students, Ivy Tech contributes almost $4 billion every year to Indiana’s economy, over 80% of Ivy Tech graduates stay in the state to work, and 84% of Ivy Tech graduates finish their programs without any student loan debt.
