The $2 million ADN-to-BSN Completion Grant will allow the college to partner with Central Michigan University to provide a streamlined pathway for nursing students.

Mid Michigan College has recently received a ADN-to-BSN Completion Grant from the State of Michigan in the amount of $2 million. The college will utilize the funding to partner with Central Michigan University with the aim of creating a streamlined pathway for students who receive an associate degree in nursing to continue on in their education to complete a bachelor degree at the university.

According to an article on Mid Michigan College’s website, Barbara Wieszciecinski, who serves as the Dean of Health Sciences, was quoted as saying of the school’s nursing program and the partnership facilitated by the grant funding, “Since 1969, over 3,500 nurses have graduated from Mid, serving essential functions and as active community members within the region. We have partnered with Central Michigan University to offer this opportunity to students. From seamless transfer and significant cost savings to high-quality education and online learning options, this partnership will prepare the next generation of nurses in the region.”

In addition to the streamlined pathway from Mid Michigan College to Central Michigan University, the grant funding will also be used to support the nursing program in a number of aspects, including to fund scholarships specifically for students who will be taking part in the ADN-to-BSN Initiative. The college will also update and upgrade its current learning spaces and equipment, including classrooms and labs, to give nursing students the best start to their nursing careers. The Nursing Skills Lab will also receive an update which includes simulation equipment. Already purchased items include IV pumps and a SIM Man.

Beth Binder, the college’s Director of Admissions, said, “Registration for Mid’s summer and fall semesters opens soon and we encourage students interested in beginning their journey to a nursing career to reach out to us. There are tuition-free options that make it easier than ever to get started—apply today so you get the best schedule and access the most resources.”
